Online Piano Lessons for Adults

Learn the songs you love on your schedule—no boring drills or rigid classical exams required.

Why Learning Piano as an Adult is Different

Many adults hesitate to start piano because they think it's "too late" or that they'll be forced through tedious children's beginner books. The truth is adults learn faster than kids because they understand musical patterns, harmony, and structure instantly.

My teaching methodology focuses on practical music-making: understanding chords, lead sheets, rhythm, and playing songs from pop, rock, jazz, and blues right away.

Realistic Timeline: How Long Does It Take?

Progress depends on practice consistency, but here is a practical timeline for what you can expect when taking 1-on-1 Zoom lessons with 15–20 minutes of daily practice:

  • Month 1 – 3: Fundamentals & First Songs
Learn basic posture, learn how to read sheet music and essential major and minor chords, and play recognizeable pop or classic songs using two hands.
  • Month 3 – 6: Fluidity & Lead Sheets
Read chord symbols comfortably, play simple melody-and-accompaniment arrangements, and control dynamic volume and expression.
  • Month 6+: Independence & Style
Play full song arrangements, improvise simple solos over blues or pop chord progressions, and play by ear with confidence.

Overcoming Common Adult Doubts

  • "I don't have hours to practice every day."
You don't need to! 15 to 20 minutes of daily practice produces better results than a 2-hour marathon session once a week.
  • "My hands aren't flexible enough."
Hand flexibility builds naturally over time. We focus on proper wrist movement and posture to prevent tension or wrist strain. During the free trial lesson, we can discuss correct posture and practice intensity.
  • "What if I travel or have a busy work schedule?"
Lessons are flexible. You can choose weekly, biweekly, or monthly slots, and you receive optional video recordings of our classes to review during practice.
