Hi! Welcome to RemotePianoClasses.com. My name is Floris Boere and I have been teaching piano and keyboard for almost twenty years. I graduated from the Utrecht Conservatory and earned a master's degree in jazz piano from New York University (NYU). As a professional pianist, I have performed on international stages with bands, singer-songwriters, and as a solo artist.

Teaching is one of my greatest passions. Through live Zoom video lessons, you get interactive, direct guidance on your own instrument right from your living room. Adults and children alike are welcome — whether you are a complete beginner, haven't played in years, or want to explore new genres like pop, jazz, and blues. More Than Just Music

Music instruction is one of the best investments in your child's education. Research by psychologist Glenn Schellenberg (University of Toronto) highlights that children taking structured piano lessons score higher on IQ tests and demonstrate improved focus in school. Learning an instrument teaches young students that focus and consistent practice lead to real progress.

What to Expect in a Remote Zoom Lesson

Every lesson is positive, engaging, and relaxed. Parents are welcome to sit in without worrying about travel time or commutes. We start by reviewing last week's music, working through tricky passages together, and learning proper hand posture and technique. Students can also receive video recordings of their lessons to rewatch when practicing at home.

How Parents Can Support Practice

Encouragement is key! Children progress fastest when practicing 15 minutes daily on their home keyboard or piano. Establishing a regular routine — like playing right after school — helps build momentum. You don't need any musical background yourself to encourage their growth.

Portrait of professional piano teacher Floris Boere

After graduating from the Utrecht Conservatory and earning my master's degree at NYU, I spent a decade performing and recording in New York City. I have been teaching piano online and in-person for nearly 20 years. Having performed genres ranging from jazz, pop, and rock to funk and afrobeat, I bring a versatile, practical approach to music education.

My teaching philosophy is simple: learning piano should be engaging and rewarding. It's not about daunting drills, but about enjoying the process of playing music on your keyboard or piano from day one.

In addition to teaching, I am an active composer and producer with millions of streams across Spotify and Apple Music. I frequently teach songwriting, chord arrangement, and home music production to interested students.

How do online piano lessons work?

We meet live over Zoom. You place your laptop, iPad, or smartphone next to your piano or keyboard. We work on your songs, technique, and music theory interactively in real-time.

How do I schedule my free trial lesson?

Send a message on WhatsApp or fill out the quick contact form below. I will reach out promptly to set up a time.

Can I get recordings of my piano lessons?

Yes! Every Zoom session can be recorded so you can review specific chord progressions or exercises during home practice.

Do I need prior experience to start learning?

Not at all. The majority of adult and child students begin as complete beginners!

What is the minimum age to begin piano lessons?

Children can start from age 8. For adults, there is no age limit — my oldest student began at 78!

Is a digital keyboard okay, or do I need an acoustic piano?

A standard home keyboard or digital piano is perfectly fine for online lessons. Weighted keys are helpful, but standard keys work great for starting out.

How much daily practice is recommended?

Aiming for 15 minutes a day yields steady progress while keeping learning fun and stress-free.

Can you help me choose a keyboard to buy?

Yes, I am happy to recommend quality keyboards across various budget ranges. Send me a message via the form below!

Do you teach music theory and ear training?

Yes! Music theory and ear training are integrated into the songs you learn so it feels practical and natural.

Do you offer classical piano lessons?

My specialty lies in modern contemporary styles — Pop, Rock, Blues, Jazz, Latin, and Songwriting. While we can include popular classical pieces, I can refer pure classical students to specialized classical instructors.

Where can I listen to your original music?

You can listen on Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music, and Tidal.

Get in touch to schedule your free 1-on-1 Zoom trial lesson. We'll discuss your goals, check your video setup, and play some music together!
